About Seattle Emergency Firewatch — Puget Sound's 24/7 Fire Watch Officer Company

Seattle Emergency Firewatch does one thing: we staff certified Fire Watch Officers when a building's fire protection is out of service. We are not a general guard company that also takes fire watch calls. Every Officer we dispatch is trained specifically for impairment work — patrol intervals, hazard recognition, extinguisher use, occupant notification, fire department contact, and the written record that proves the watch happened.

We cover King, Pierce, Snohomish, Thurston, Kitsap, and Yakima counties, which means we work under dozens of different authorities having jurisdiction: the Seattle Fire Department's Fire Marshal's office, Bellevue and Kirkland fire prevention divisions, Central Pierce and East Pierce Fire & Rescue, South Snohomish and Everett Fire, Bremerton and Bainbridge Island Fire, Lacey Fire District 3, and the county fire marshals covering the unincorporated areas between them. Each has its own expectations for notification, patrol frequency, and what an inspectable log looks like, and our coordinators know those differences before an Officer is assigned.

The properties we cover are just as varied. In a typical month our Officers are posted in occupied apartment communities during sprinkler riser work, hospital smoke compartments during phased renovation, jail housing units during detection outages, distribution warehouses with racked storage during main replacement, wood-frame construction sites overnight, courthouses during business hours, school campuses over break, and hotels during fire pump repairs.

Dispatch is available every hour of the year, and Officers are typically on site within one to two hours of an emergency call anywhere in the core Puget Sound service area. Planned work — annual testing, riser replacement, panel upgrades, tenant improvement tie-ins — is booked ahead so coverage begins before your contractor closes a valve and continues until the system is restored and tested. Patrol logs are delivered at the end of every shift, so the impairment file is complete from the first hour rather than assembled after the fact.
